What you need to play

A modern device with an up-to-date browser. Chrome is highly recommended for voice recognition.

Myriad Paths runs right in your browser. There is no need to download anything from the App Store or Google Play, though you can save the website to your home screen as an app (a PWA) for quick access.

We highly recommend using Chrome, as it offers the most reliable voice recognition across all platforms. Safari also works perfectly, especially on iPhones and iPads. Just make sure your iOS or Android system is reasonably up-to-date.

Since Myriad Paths is built around voice interaction, speaking is the way you play — there is no text box for typing your actions. This means your browser must support built-in speech recognition:

  • Chrome — Works everywhere (Our top pick).
  • Safari — Works great on Mac, iPhone, and iPad.
  • Edge and other Chromium browsers — Usually work fine.
  • Firefox — Does not support speech recognition, so you won't be able to play.

If your microphone isn't working, you're likely using a browser that doesn't support this feature. Simply switch to Chrome, and you'll be good to go! (Note: The Game Master's voice narration will play in almost any modern browser, regardless of microphone support).

For older devices, the game will still load, but you might experience slight delays during voice processing or image generation.

Frequently asked questions

Info about older devices, browser compatibility, and tablets.

Will the game work on my older phone?

Yes, as long as your operating system isn't severely outdated. While there's no strict cutoff, very old versions of iOS or Android might lack the browser features needed for voice recognition to function properly. For the best experience, try to keep your OS updated and play via Chrome (or Safari on Apple devices).

Why doesn't the voice feature work in my browser?

The game relies on your browser's built-in speech recognition. Chrome is the most reliable option, and Safari works well too. However, Firefox and many in-app browsers (like opening a link directly inside a messenger) don't support this feature. Since talking is how you play, just switch to Chrome! See Voice & narration for a full compatibility list.

Can I play on an iPad or Android tablet?

Absolutely! Tablets use our spacious desktop layout, making it very comfortable to play. Just remember to use Safari on an iPad, or Chrome on an Android tablet, so your microphone works perfectly.
